Who is Cori Bush? 

Cori Bush is an American politician and activist who currently serves as the U.S. Representative for Missouri’s 1st congressional district.

She is a member of the Democratic Party and was elected to Congress in 2020. Prior to her political career, she was a registered nurse and a community organizer.

Bush founded the nonprofit organization Kingdom Embassy International, which provides services to individuals and families in need.

In 2018, Bush ran for the U.S. House of Representatives in Missouri’s 1st congressional district, challenging the incumbent Democrat William Lacy Clay.

Although she was ultimately unsuccessful in that race, she gained national attention for her progressive platform and grassroots campaign.

Cori Bush ran again for Congress in 2020, this time defeating Clay in the Democratic primary and going on to win the general election.

She was sworn into office on January 3, 2021, becoming the first Black woman to represent Missouri in Congress.

As a member of Congress, Cori Bush has focused on issues such as racial justice, police reform, and economic inequality.

Cori Bush has been a vocal supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement and has advocated for policies such as Medicare for All and a Green New Deal.
