Dolly Parton got breast reduction surgery because her trademark 40DD 'Virginia Twins' were killing h
While Dolly Parton goes around promoting her new Netflix anthology series 'Dolly Parton's Heartstrings', which is inspired by the star's greatest songs, she was missing her pair of trademark assets, namely her 40DD breasts.
For 30-odd years the 73-year-old singer made no secret of the fact that she had a lot of work done around her chest to maintain her signature look. "It costs a lot of money to look this cheap!" she once noted and added, "If I see something saggin', baggin', or draggin', I'm gonna have it nipped, tucked, or sucked!"
However, in 2004, Parton decided to go through breast reduction surgery after she started experiencing crippling pressure on her back and shoulders and resultant pain due to the weight of her assets.
“My boobs are killing me — and I don't know if I can stand the pain any longer," Dolly told her heartbroken fans at the time, Express reported. "My boobs have been a trademark for me — but I've paid one hell of a price."
Then, in 2011, she revealed in an interview with Grilletta Brewburg, a former reporter for country music publication, Yippee-Ki-Yay, that she had gone under the knife for the second time to reduce one of them further.
At the time, she revealed that she had named her breasts "West Virginia and East Virginia", affectionately calling them the "Virginia Twins". She added that when one of her friends noticed that West Virginia was a little bit bigger than the other, she was forced to go through surgery once more.
During an appearance on 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon', on Wednesday, November 20, Dolly dished on how she had a recent run-in with Jolene, a mystery redheaded woman who she was worried would steal her husband and even wrote a song titled on her name.
But she said that she was not worried anymore. "Just so you know, I did see Jolene not long ago," she told the show's host.
"She's not so hot now. She used to have that beautiful red hair and now she's gray. She used to have a little tight butt. Now, it's a tight spot getting her butt through that door now. She used to wear a D-cup — now she's wearing Depends."
