Quavo & Takeoff Reflect On Infamous Complex Interview

Publish date: 2024-06-10

Quavo and Takeoff have reflected on the confrontational Everyday Struggle interview the Migos gave with Joe Budden and Akademiks back in 2017.

In a sitdown with Drink Champs to talk about their new project Only Built For Infinity Links, the two former Migos rappers opened up about their infamous confrontation with the two former Complex hosts, which Quavo said was sparked by Budden abruptly dropping his microphone and storming out of their interview.

“The whole time though that n-gga was tripping, Joe was tripping,” Quavo said at the 11-minute mark. “He was sitting up like he didn’t wanna interview us, so we’re reading his body like what the fuck wrong with him? We waiting on him to like, ok we watching him, we watching him. We answered the questions, Joe ain’t saying shit. We just here watching Joe like what the fuck he finna do?”

Takeoff chimed in and said he genuinely couldn’t hear the questions being asked of him.

“‘Do it look like I was left off Bad and Boujee?’ That was the first thing that came to my head,” Takeoff said. “Regardless of what you hear on the record, do it look like I was left off Bad and Boujee? And he just did what he did.”

“He dropped the mic,” Quavo said. “Ooo when he dropped that mic.”

Elsewhere in the interview, they said they worked things out with Joe Budden and that they have “no smoke” with the podcast host.

The duo also addressed the rumored falling out with their third fellow Migos Offset, and Takeoff said even before the drama began behind the group’s alleged breakup that him and Quavo always wanted to branch out on their own.

“Just like me personally just a bucket list,” Takeoff said. “I feel like this my real uncle. Like we do music…we been doing this, I always have wanted to drop a little collab album, cause why not? Why can’t I drop one?”

Quavo added that there are no plans for the trio to get back together at this time.

“I don’t know, I don’t think so,” he said. “Right now I believe in the duo. Like you just said you play the game by loyalty, we just stand on loyalty, and like we said… we stand on motherfucking loyalty, and this is just about us and shit, when things ain’t right you gotta god damn move on.”

He added, “When ego anything get in the way you gotta sit back and just watch what’s going on and just see what’s wrong…at the end of the day n-ggas got problems that they need to fix.”

However, the pair said a Migos reunion could potentially happen for a Verzuz, “if the check right.”

Quavo Finally Explains Why Takeoff Was Left Off Migos’ ‘Bad & Boujee’

A rumored fallout between the Migos members kicked off when Offset and his wife Cardi B unfollowed Quavo and Takeoff on social media. Quay and Take dropped off a joint single shortly after that with an accompanying music video titled “HOTEL LOBBY.”

Offset has been busy pushing his own solo music, such as “5 4 3 2 1” and “Code” featuring Moneybagg Yo. He recently announced a release date of November 11 for his next solo album.
